Ayodhya – The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Monday opened applications for the post of its first Chief Executive Officer, making it clear that only “actively practicing Hindus” can apply, with preference for a devotee of Lord Ram from the Vaishnavite tradition. The move comes months after allegations of embezzlement in temple donations, and is aimed at strengthening the trust’s administrative and financial oversight. Key Eligibility Criteria As per the notification posted on X, applicants must: Be aged between 50 and 70 years Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university Have 20+ years of managerial experience in a large public organization, government department, company or institution Have working knowledge of both Hindi and English Experience in administration, finance, accounts, HR, IT, security, legal and public relations will be required. “Preference will be given to candidates who have served as a chief administrative officer or have managed a temple/Hindu religious institution. Retired officers who meet the criteria may also apply,” the trust said. The notification added that the applicant must be an “actively practicing Hindu”, and “being a devotee of Lord Ram belonging to the Vaishnava tradition will be considered desirable”. Role & Tenure The CEO will be based in Ayodhya. Salary and benefits will be decided mutually. The initial appointment is for *3 years*, extendable based on performance. The officer will report to the trust’s general secretary and handle statutory, administrative and financial matters. Key responsibilities include: Overseeing temple finances and ensuring transparency Managing assets, compliance and organizational systems Ensuring smooth conduct of rituals, festivals and pilgrim facilities Coordinating security with local, state and central agencies Upholding the trust’s reputation and promoting Sanatan traditions Making arrangements for VIPs, saints and visiting dignitaries Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the Ram Temple Construction Committee, said on Sunday that the CEO’s powers will be decided by the trust and there will be “no government interference”. “The primary responsibility of the CEO will be to uphold the faith of devotees in the trust,” Mishra said. He added that the CEO can appoint staff for the office but overall administration will remain with the trust. Selection Process The last date to apply is 4 PM, July 18. A 3-member panel has been set up to screen candidates: retired Justice Pramod Kohli, retired Lt Gen Vishnukant Chaturvedi and former NIT Raipur chairperson Suresh Haware. Mishra clarified he will not be part of the panel and will decide on attending the trust’s July 22 meeting after seeing the agenda. He also said construction committee members are ex-officio and have no voting rights in the trust. The creation of the CEO post follows the trust’s push for tighter controls after the recent donation embezzlement allegations.
