Amaravati – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually dedicate the redeveloped Mangalagiri Railway Station to the nation on July 17, officials said on Monday. The station, a Non-Suburban Grade facility under the Guntur Division, has been revamped at a cost of Rs 12.5 crore under the Centre’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). What’s new at Mangalagiri station The redevelopment focuses on passenger safety, accessibility and better travel experience. Key upgrades include: New infrastructure: Renovation of the existing building and a second-entry station building with booking office, waiting halls and VIP lounge Passenger amenities: Aesthetically upgraded facade, spacious entrance porch, modern toilets, durable seating, improved platform surfacing and standardised signage Accessibility: 2 lifts, tactile pathways, ramps and accessible toilets for Divyangjan and elderly passengers Platforms & circulation: New shelters on Platforms 1 and 4, redeveloped front and rear circulating areas with dedicated parking, pedestrian paths, street lighting, lane markings and landscaping Access control: Boundary walls and wider entry/exit gates for smoother passenger movement “As part of the Government of India’s transformative Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the redeveloped Mangalagiri Railway Station will be dedicated to the nation by PM Modi through a virtual inauguration on July 17,” the release said. Officials said the project reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to enhancing comfort and operational efficiency while retaining the station’s unique identity. The inauguration is being seen as another milestone in the modernisation of railway infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.
