The big-screen adaptation of the acclaimed streaming franchise Mirzapur, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu, has delivered a massive opening at the domestic box office. The action-thriller collected ₹24.75 crore net across India on its debut day, translating to an estimated gross total of ₹29.70 crore across 11,135 shows nationwide. The figures comfortably surpassed initial trade forecasts, which had placed opening-day estimates in the ₹18–20 crore range. Both audience word-of-mouth and early critical notices highlighted the ensemble cast’s performances and the transition of the show’s signature gritty tone to cinemas. Audience turnout demonstrated consistent momentum throughout Friday, starting at 25.85% in morning screenings, rising to 41.15% in the afternoon and 41.85% in the evening, before peaking at 62.38% for night shows. This brought overall domestic theatre occupancy to 42.81%. Regionally, Delhi-NCR led demand with 54.3% occupancy over 1,249 screenings, while Mumbai registered 30.8% across 818 shows. The Telugu-dubbed version recorded 24.05% occupancy. With its near-₹25 crore net debut, Mirzapur: The Movie moved past recent theatrical contenders such as Saiyaara (₹22 crore) and Awarapan 2 (₹21.5 crore), while holding strong alongside continuing runs of titles like Hanuman Ansh and Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. Helmed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film features an extensive ensemble including Ravi Kishan, Jitendra Kumar, Rasika Dugal, Sheeba Chadha, Abhishek Banerjee, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Shweta Tripathi, Harshita Gaur, Sonal Chauhan, Rajesh Tailang, Sushant Singh, Mohit Malik, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the movie debuted on September 4 in Hindi along with a Telugu dub.
