Euphoria frontman and musician Palash Sen has weighed in on Salman Khan’s recent remarks addressing online trolling and manufactured negative PR in Bollywood. While acknowledging that Khan showed courage by addressing the subject publicly, Sen pointed out that established industry insiders, including Khan, helped foster that very culture. During an episode of Bigg Boss 20, Khan openly criticized coordinated smear campaigns targeted at actors during film underperformances. He also pushed back against online trolling directed at Katrina Kaif regarding her physical appearance after childbirth, questioning the relentless scrutiny celebrities’ face. Top-Down Industry Practices Speaking in an interview with Screen, Sen offered a critical perspective on Khan’s commentary, noting that aggressive PR tactics have long been routine at the upper levels of the Hindi film industry. Sen noted that such systematic practices do not emerge from beginners but originate from industry leaders. He remarked that sustained stardom in Bollywood has frequently relied on coordinated PR maneuvers, adding that anyone who utilizes such tactics must inevitably deal with their consequences. Questions Over Authenticity While acknowledging Khan’s outspokenness, Sen suggested that one cannot easily detach oneself from practices long normalization within mainstream cinema circles: Accountability: Sen pointed out that figures who have long navigated and benefited from public relations machinery cannot suddenly assume a detached moral stance. Platform and Staging: Sen also raised questions about the format of the disclosure, observing that because the comments were delivered during a reality show broadcast, it remains uncertain whether the discussion was an organic reflection or an orchestrated television segment.
