Mumbai — The much-awaited trailer of director Nitesh Tiwari’s epic Ramayana has been postponed hours before its scheduled release. The trailer was earlier set to drop globally on Friday, July 24, following the film team’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. However, producer Namit Malhotra announced early Friday morning that the launch has been delayed to a later date. The reason behind the postponement is a major international tie-up. Sony Pictures to Distribute ‘Ramayana’ Globally In an Instagram note, Malhotra revealed that Ramayana has partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment for international distribution. “Today is a very special moment for our ‘Ramayana’. My dream of taking Ramayana to the world is now a reality with our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. In light of the above we will be launching our trailer now globally at a later date,” he wrote. He added that the deal means the film will be released worldwide “like any major global Hollywood film.” “In over 100 years of Indian cinema this will become a moment of great pride where Ramayana will be shown to the entire world like any major global Hollywood film. This opens the door for people of the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride,” Malhotra said. He also thanked fans and said, “The youth of our country are our future, let’s all do the best we can to protect our future.” What Happened at Comic-Con On Thursday, stars Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, along with director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra, attended a panel for Ramayana at San Diego Comic-Con. The trailer was expected to release at 8 AM on Friday, right after the event. A preview of the 4-minute trailer had already been shown to select media and fans in Delhi last week. About ‘Ramayana’ The film is a two-part epic. Part 1 is scheduled to release in theatres this November 2026.
