‘Jana Nayagan’ Now Belongs to the People, Says Producer Venkat K Narayana as Vijay’s Film Releases in Theatres

Chennai — Producer Venkat K Narayana said on Thursday that ‘Jana Nayagan’ starring Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay “now belongs to the people” as the film released in theatres nationwide.

Narayana made the remarks during the film’s first day first show at Vettri Theatre in Chromepet.

“We have released it on the largest number of screens across the country and the movie belongs to the people. We look forward to their love and support,” he said.

Emotional Release After Hurdles

The producer said the theatrical release came after several legal and logistical challenges.

“It is very emotional for us because we went through a lot to bring this to theatres. But what is behind us is behind us. Ahead of us is how best a theatrical experience we can give to the audience.”

Music director Anirudh Ravichander, who attended the screening with Narayana, called it a “surreal and emotional moment”.

“After all the struggle that the film has been through for the audience to enjoy it, to sit with them and feel that is very special,” he said.

He added that hearing fans cheer in theatres made the moment even more emotional, calling it “the last one” with Vijay on screen for now.

Vijay’s Support and Stardom

Narayana said Vijay remained supportive throughout the production delays.

“Whatever hurdles we were going through, I was talking to sir constantly. He’s been always supportive, concerned about us, and he stood by us. We were together in this journey,” he said. He credited the film’s massive opening to “Vijay sir’s stardom, reach, and his stamina”.

Fans to Miss Vijay on Screen

With Vijay now focused on his role as Chief Minister, Narayana acknowledged that audiences will miss seeing him in films.

“I will definitely miss him, and all the people are saying the same thing that they’re going to miss him,” he said.

On a possible return to acting, he added: “In the newer responsibilities, if time permits, definitely we would want him to continue to see in the theatres”.
