“Most Anti-Youth PM”: Rahul Gandhi, Opposition Slam Centre Over Crackdown On CJP Protest

New Delhi — Opposition parties on Monday strongly criticized the government over police action against the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) during the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on the NEET paper leak issue.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi called PM Narendra Modi the “most anti-youth Prime Minister in the country’s history”.

What Rahul Gandhi Said

On X, LoP Rahul Gandhi wrote: “PM Modi is the most anti-youth PM in India’s history. He is so anti-youth that he cannot even take the resignation of a failed Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.””152 paper leaks. 7.5 crore students affected. Not one guilty person punished. Who paid the price? The hardworking youth.”In a video message, he called the protesters’ demands “legitimate” and said peaceful protest is a “fundamental right”. The video also showed visuals of students being beaten by police.

CJP And Opposition Allegations                                      

The CJP accused Delhi Police of using excessive force to stop protesters from reaching Parliament. They alleged several students were injured and that activist Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali J Angmo, was manhandled. Delhi Police denied the claim, calling the reports “completely false and misleading” and said “no individuals were subjected to targeted assault”.

Police sources said 50+ police personnel and an equal number of protesters were injured in clashes after stones were allegedly thrown at security personnel, leading to a lathicharge. Over 100 protesters were detained and taken to different police stations.

Other Opposition Reactions

• Mallikarjun Kharge: Accused the government of “crushing” students for raising the NEET issue. Said a government that cannot conduct exams is “not fit to be in power”.
• Priyanka Gandhi Vadra: Demanded a detailed Parliament discussion and a response from the PM.
• Mamata Banerjee: Condemned the action, saying the Centre is responding to dissent with force instead of dialogue.
• Arvind Kejriwal: Urged the Centre to “drop arrogance and listen to youth” instead of ordering lathicharge. Alleged internet was shut in the area.
• Akhilesh Yadav: Said the government failed to anticipate the turnout. “For years the government has been playing with the future of students.”
• CPI(M), CPI, Shiv Sena UBT, DMK: Leaders including M A Baby, Brinda Karat, Aaditya Thackeray and Kanimozhi joined protests at Jantar Mantar. CPI(M) said “Every lathi charge and tear gas shell is a confession of the BJP government’s fear.
• “CPI: Called it a “brutal lathi charge” and accused the government of “utter contempt for democracy”.

Inside Parliament, opposition parties stalled proceedings on the opening day of the Monsoon Session, demanding a discussion on the NEET paper leak.
