The Indian automotive market has seen rapid momentum in 2026, marked by frequent model updates and major new introductions. As consumer preference continues to tilt strongly toward SUVs, automakers are gearing up for a high-profile close to the year. December 2026 will kick off with back-to-back showcases from legacy leaders and ambitious new entrants alike.

1. Next-Generation Toyota Fortuner — December 1

The global debut of the next-generation Toyota Fortuner is slated for December 1, 2026. Prototypes of the updated full-size SUV have already been seen undergoing real-world road tests.

  • Platform & Styling: Built on an upgraded IMV ladder-frame architecture, the new Fortuner features slightly larger proportions. Up front, it takes design cues from the updated Hilux, boasting redesigned LED headlamps, a bolder radiator grille, and a restructured bumper. The rear gets reprofiled tail lamps and a refreshed tailgate.
  • Cabin & Tech: Toyota is expected to overhaul the interior with upgraded materials, enhanced ergonomics, and modern infotainment.
  • Powertrains: The SUV will likely retain its 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel powertrains, with the diesel benefiting from mild-hybrid assistance. A dedicated four-wheel-drive system will remain available on higher diesel grades.

2. Honda 0 Alpha EV — December 2

Honda is scheduled to take the wraps off its first dedicated electric SUV on December 2, 2026. Currently known under the internal moniker ‘0 Alpha’, the vehicle will be aimed at both Indian and global markets.

  • Design Language: The 0 Alpha adopts an angular, upright silhouette balanced with distinct EV-first styling elements.
  • Cabin Amenities & Safety: Equipment will include a large central touchscreen, a digital instrument binnacle, tactile physical controls, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, and a panoramic glass roof. Safety features will center around a Level 2 ADAS suite alongside standard equipment like six airbags, ABS, and EBD.
  • Battery & Range: Expected to carry lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs ranging between 65 kWh and 75 kWh, providing an estimated real-world driving range of 450 to 500 km per charge.

3. JSW Combat (Jetour T2) — December 3–4

Industrial conglomerate JSW is formally launching its independent passenger car brand in India during a dedicated event on December 3–4, 2026, backed by a technical partnership with Chinese automaker Chery.

  • Product Identity: The brand’s debut offering will be the Jetour T2, locally named the JSW Combat. Characterized by its upright, utilitarian stance reminiscent of rugged off-roaders, test mules of the SUV have made frequent appearances across Indian roads.
  • Powertrain & Architecture: Positioned as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the Combat pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and battery system. The setup is projected to offer an all-electric pure EV range of roughly 100 km before switching to hybrid propulsion.
