New Delhi — Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi reached Mandir Marg police station on Tuesday night to meet her daughter and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Priyanka Gandhi, along with other party leaders, was detained earlier in the day following a protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence. While some Congress leaders were taken to Mandir Marg, others were moved to Kingsway Camp police station. Rahul Gandhi and several others were later shifted to Chhatrasal Stadium in Model Town. How The Detentions Happened Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and leaders from other opposition parties held a sudden sit-in protest outside the PM’s residence. MoS PMO Jitendra Singh and Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan went to the spot to request the protesters to vacate the area. Rahul Gandhi’s discussion with the minister lasted a few minutes. After the talks remained inconclusive, both Singh and the Home Secretary left the site. Shortly after they left, police forcibly removed and detained Rahul, Priyanka and other leaders in the evening.
