Bhubaneswar — In the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Odisha, around 12 lakh voters remain unmapped and discrepancies have been found in the details of 46.36 lakh voters. The month-long exercise was conducted from May 30 to June 28 to update and verify voter data. What The Data Shows Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan said notices are being issued to a total of 58.36 lakh electors. These include voters who could not be linked between the 2002 and 2025 voter lists, and those with mismatches in their details compared to the 2002 roll. Unmapped voters: ∼12 lakh Voters with discrepancies/mismatches: ∼46.36 lakh Gopalan said most of these mismatches are minor, logical errors and are expected to be corrected during the ongoing notice and hearing process. To help vulnerable groups like senior citizens, persons with disabilities, the sick, and those in remote areas, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will collect documents from their homes. The total number of voters has dropped from 3,33,99,591 in the pre-revision roll to 3,13,87,034 in the draft. Reasons for exclusion include death, absence during enumeration, permanent relocation, and non-submission of the enumeration form.
