London — Samsung has once again extended its software support policy for Galaxy Watches. Announced at Unpacked in London, the company confirmed that its newest wearables will now get longer firmware support. The Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will receive 5 major OS upgrades and 5 years of security patches. What’s New in the Policy Previously, Galaxy Watches starting from the Galaxy Watch 4 were eligible for 4 OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates. With the new policy, the 2026 models will get one extra major OS update. That means the Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 should get their final major OS upgrade in 2031. Samsung has not yet confirmed if older models like the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, or the original Galaxy Watch Ultra will also get the extra OS update retroactively. Software and Features The Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 launch with Wear OS 7 and One UI 9 Watch. They also bring new and upgraded AI and Health features, as expected with a new generation.
