Mumbai Manufacturers of iconic liquor brands Old Monk and McDowell’s No. 1 Celebration Matured Rum have moved the Bombay High Court to challenge a recent ban imposed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The regulatory order strictly prohibits the production and distribution of fresh stocks for both popular rum brands. High Court Agrees to Hear the Petition The legal challenge was brought before a Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice Gautam Ankhad. Recognizing the urgency and scale of the matter, the bench agreed on Friday to hear the petitions filed by the respective manufacturing companies. The manufacturers are contesting the validity of the FSSAI’s prohibition directives, seeking judicial intervention to allow the continuation of manufacturing and sales operations across affected markets.
