New Delhi — On Sunday, July 26, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new high-level task force on examination reforms. The panel will be chaired by Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of Infosys. The group has been tasked with suggesting changes for exams conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) with the aim of making the process more secure, transparent, and tech-enabled. Who is Nandan Nilekani? Infosys Co-founder: One of the seven founders of Infosys. He currently serves as its Non-Executive Chairman. Aadhaar Pioneer: He was the first Chairman of UIDAI and led the design and rollout of Aadhaar, India’s biometric identification system. Digital Policy Voice: Recognized globally for his work on digital public infrastructure. He has also contributed to G20 discussions on digital public goods. Public Life: Nilekani entered politics in 2014 with the Congress party and contested from Bangalore South in the Lok Sabha elections. It came a day after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down amid protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) that ran for 36 days. The government has already set up fast-track courts and plans to introduce stricter anti-paper leak legislation. PM Modi said the new task force is part of a longer-term push: “We have to think about the future and build an examination system that cannot be compromised.” Nilekani emphasized the same point, stating that India’s exam system must be dependable and transparent and should leverage technology to the fullest.
