Harley-Davidson has expanded its small-capacity lineup with the official premiere of the Sprint 440, a modern-retro cruiser co-developed with India’s Hero MotoCorp. Set for its global public debut at EICMA in Milan, the motorcycle is slated to arrive in the United States by spring 2027, where final units will be assembled at Harley-Davidson’s York facility. Harley-Davidson is also reportedly working on an X350T variant for the Indian market.

Classic Cruiser Aesthetic

Unlike the roadster stance of the X440, the Sprint 440 adopts a relaxed cruiser posture. Key design elements include a teardrop fuel tank, a round LED headlight, a low-scoop rider’s saddle, raised pulled-back handlebars, and a short rear fender paired with a low-slung exhaust.

The dark-themed mechanical layout is highlighted by machined cylinder fins, dual-tone alloy accents, and a brushed exhaust shield. Globally, the cruiser will be offered in three paint schemes: Dark Billiard Grey, Vivid Black, and Teal Thunder. The “Sprint” moniker revives a lightweight nameplate first introduced by Harley-Davidson in 1961 to draw accessible, entry-level riders to the marquee.

Powertrain and Performance

Powering the motorcycle is the familiar 440cc single-cylinder, air- and oil-cooled engine, calibrated to deliver 26.7 bhp at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 38 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The powerplant is mated to a six-speed transmission equipped with an assist-and-slipper clutch.

Tuned for low-end torque and effortless city cruising, the Sprint 440 posts an estimated combined fuel efficiency of roughly 34 km/l. To maintain a compact cruiser profile, the bike uses a 9-litre fuel tank, which is considerably smaller than the 13.5-litre capacity seen on the roadster-styled X440.

Ergonomics and Cycle Parts

Accessibility is a major design highlight, courtesy of a low 671 mm laden seat height and a slim profile through the fuel tank junction. Harley-Davidson will also provide factory Reach and Tallboy seats for riders seeking customized riding geometry.

Features and Touring Upgrades

The Sprint 440 features a circular 3.5-inch full-colour TFT display, all-around LED illumination, and a USB Type-C charging port positioned directly over the headlamp assembly. Factory customization options include quick-release windscreens, hard and soft saddlebags, pillion backrests, protective engine guards, and secondary handlebar bends.

Pricing and India Availability

The motorcycle carries a starting sticker price of £4,995 in the UK (approx. ₹6.34 lakh) and around $6,000 in the US (approx. ₹5.68 lakh). While engineered and produced in partnership with Hero MotoCorp in India, Harley-Davidson has not yet finalized the launch timeline or official pricing for the Indian market, though estimates place the domestic introductory figure around the ₹3.5 lakh mark.
