At an age when most teenagers are still navigating high school, Lakshmanan Meyyappan has etched his name into the record books. Guinness World Records has officially recognized Meyyappan as the world’s youngest male Chartered Accountant, an achievement he unlocked in Dubai at just 16 years and 141 days old.

The Journey: From School Exams to Professional Qualifications

Meyyappan’s passion for finance took root during the COVID-19 pandemic, right after he completed his Class 10 board examinations. Inspired by his mother—who is also an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional—he was introduced to fundamental accounting concepts during the lockdown.

Driven by curiosity, he began studying for the ACCA qualification at age 15 and successfully completed the program in roughly a year.

Beyond Accounting: Building a Career in Finance

Completing the ACCA at 16 was only the starting line for Meyyappan. He has continued to expand his expertise in the financial domain:

  • Further Qualifications: Earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter.
  • Higher Education: Currently pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) in Finance.
  • Professional Role: Works as a Senior Research Analyst at Dubai-based Century Financial, focusing on investments, financial analysis, and market strategy.
  • Personal Passion: Outside of finance and academics, Meyyappan enjoys watchmaking and horology as a hobby.

“Driven by Curiosity, Not Speed”

Reflecting on his Guinness World Record recognition, Meyyappan emphasized that his goal was never simply to race through exams:

“This milestone means a lot to me, but I have never approached qualifications as a race. What mattered was understanding how finance works in the real world and building skills that remain relevant over time. When learning is driven by curiosity rather than speed, the outcome is far more meaningful.”

His journey serves as an inspiring blueprint for young students, demonstrating how alternative professional pathways and early skill-building can open doors in the global financial sector.
