Driven by global market volatility and escalating geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran, the Indian stock market experienced a weak trading week. The benchmark BSE Sensex dipped by 489.92 points (0.62%), while the NSE Nifty fell by 204.65 points (0.83%). Amidst this market slump, the collective valuation of five of India’s top 10 most valuable companies dropped by nearly ₹1 lakh crore. However, five other blue-chip companies managed to buck the trend, adding over ₹55,000 crore to their market value. The Big Losers: TCS Suffers Highest Value Drop Among the major companies that saw a decrease in market capitalization, IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) took the biggest blow, losing over ₹34,000 crore in equity value. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS): Market cap fell by ₹34,263.28 crore to standard at ₹8,53,506.85 crore. Reliance Industries: Equity valuation dropped by ₹31,869.13 crore to ₹17,70,056.06 crore. State Bank of India (SBI): Valuation declined by ₹25,891.88 crore to reach ₹9,85,829.96 crore. HDFC Bank: Erased ₹7,165.37 crore, bringing its market value to ₹11,20,802.10 crore. ICICI Bank: Shed ₹2,792.65 crore, ending at ₹10,17,577.98 crore. The Gainers: LIC and Bharti Airtel Lead the Recovery Despite the overall weak sentiment, five companies in the top 10 segment recorded substantial growth, adding a combined ₹55,149.45 crore to their market capitalization. Life Insurance Corporation (LIC): Gained ₹26,438.49 crore, raising its valuation to ₹5,23,330.31 crore. Bharti Airtel: Increased market cap by ₹20,592.13 crore to reach ₹12,43,016.11 crore. Bajaj Finance: Added ₹3,548.79 crore, climbing to ₹6,77,197.34 crore. Larsen & Toubro (L&T): Gained ₹2,490.66 crore, taking its valuation to ₹5,58,973.11 crore. Hindustan Unilever (HUL): Valuation rose by ₹2,079.38 crore to ₹4,90,888.35 crore.
