Bulandshahr: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Saturday made indirect remarks targeting SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, questioning his work schedule and public outreach during his tenure as CM. Speaking at an event in Bulandshahr where he launched and laid foundation stones for 57 development projects worth over ₹574 crore, Adityanath said the state’s approach changed after 2017. “No time for the public” Without naming Yadav, Adityanath said: “Back then, ‘Babua’ would wake up at 12 pm, get ready by 2 pm. By 5 pm it was gym time, and after that he would be busy with his own gatherings.” He added that the former CM rarely found time to meet people and had no clear roadmap for youth, farmers, women, poor, traders or entrepreneurs. “Where was the time for the public? He did nothing earlier, and Lord Ram has ensured he won’t get a chance to do anything now either,” Adityanath said, linking it to SP’s election losses. Criticism of previous govt’s welfare record The CM said welfare schemes that people are getting now could have been rolled out earlier too. He cited examples like free ration, LPG connections under Ujjwala, houses under PM Awas and CM Awas Yojana, and health coverage under Ayushman Bharat and Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. “Those in power before 2017 lacked vision, time, and sensitivity for the poor. That’s why there was disorder,” he claimed. Adityanath also said 29 sugar mills in UP shut down between 2007 and 2017, and 21 of them were sold cheaply. “Today mills aren’t being sold. The double-engine BJP government is working to revive closed mills,” he said. He further alleged that the previous SP government misled sugarcane farmers, failed on women’s safety, and created an atmosphere of fear for traders. As a result, he said, UP was counted among ‘BIMARU’ states earlier, but has now moved out of that category. Praises Centre Adityanath credited PM Narendra Modi’s leadership for the state’s current development path, saying the government is moving forward with a focus on both heritage and progress.
