Bhopal played host to India’s largest-ever yoga and wellness festival over the weekend, with over 75,000 participants gathering at the sprawling Shaurya Smarak grounds for a three-day celebration of traditional wellness practices, modern fitness culture, and Ayurvedic healthcare. The “ArogyaBhopal 2025” festival was inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel and featured live yoga sessions led by renowned yoga teacher and TV personality Baba Ramdev, alongside internationally acclaimed wellness experts from Germany, South Korea, and the United States. Stalls showcasing Madhya Pradesh’s rich tradition of tribal herbal medicine drew significant attention, with practitioners from Baiga and Gond tribal communities presenting remedies used for generations in the state’s forested regions. The Ministry of AYUSH provided a special pavilion where certified Ayurvedic consultations were available free of charge. A highlight of the festival was the “Surya Namaskar Challenge,” in which 12,000 participants simultaneously performed 108 rounds of the sun salutation sequence — setting a new state record. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who performed the sequence along with participants, announced that ArogyaBhopal will become an annual event and that Bhopal will pitch to host the World Yoga Congress in 2027.
