The Madhya Pradesh government has announced Phase-2 of the Bhopal Smart City project with an outlay of ₹3,200 crore, targeting infrastructure upgrades, digital governance, and sustainable urban mobility across the state capital.

Under the new plan, the city will see the development of 15 multi-level parking facilities, a revamped public bus rapid transit corridor along Berasia Road, and the installation of 5,000 smart LED street lights integrated with a central monitoring system.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who unveiled the blueprint at Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre, said the project would be executed over the next three years and is expected to generate over 12,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities for local residents.

Key digital initiatives include a unified city app for grievance redressal, property tax payment, and real-time tracking of city buses. A dedicated AI-based traffic management system will also be set up at 42 major intersections to ease congestion.

Smart City Bhopal CEO Shweta Sinha confirmed that work on 8 projects from Phase-1 is nearing completion, including the heritage corridor near Upper Lake and the Bittan Market redevelopment zone.
