The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has kicked off a large-scale cleanliness campaign across all 85 wards of the city in a bid to improve its ranking in the upcoming Swachh Survekshan 2025 survey. Sanitation workers, volunteers, and local councillors participated in a mass clean-up of public spaces, markets, and residential colonies.

BMC Commissioner Harendra Narayan Singh stated that the corporation has deployed over 2,000 additional sanitation workers and 120 special vehicles for the drive. Door-to-door waste collection has been intensified, and citizens are being encouraged to segregate dry and wet waste at source.

The city previously ranked within the top 20 cleanest cities in India and is now targeting a top-10 finish. Special focus has been placed on the Old Bhopal area and the Lower Lake promenade, two zones that have historically struggled with waste management.

“We want every resident to be a partner in this effort. A clean Bhopal is a proud Bhopal,” said Mayor Malti Rai at the launch event held at Iqbal Maidan.
