Model and activist Riya Ahir, who gained widespread attention after standing in front of a police van during a Gen Z NEET protest at Shivaji Park in Dadar, Mumbai, has requested the withdrawal of an FIR filed against her. Ahir, along with a delegation from the Mumbai Youth Congress, also demanded police action against social media users sending her threats and abusive messages following the demonstration.

A delegation that included Mumbai Youth Congress President Zeenat Shabreen and National Secretary Hargun Singh met with Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Manoj Sharma to address the matter. The Youth Congress representatives highlighted that a notification regarding the dismissal of cases against student protesters had previously been issued and questioned the delay in resolving Ahir’s case.

According to Youth Congress leaders, Police Commissioner Sharma assured the delegation that the process to withdraw the FIR would begin shortly and that an investigation into the online harassment would be conducted. Ahir noted that another 19-year-old protester, Muskan, has faced similar online abuse, while Youth Congress officials stressed the need to safeguard young individuals expressing their views from harassment.
