Abhishek Sharma, who struggled for form in the T20 series against England, has bounced back in style with a record-breaking double century in a one-day match. He achieved this feat in the Punjab State Inter-District Senior One-Day Tournament. Playing for Amritsar, Abhishek hammered 233 runs off just 91 balls against Tarn Taran. His historic knock included 25 sixes and 15 fours, at a blistering strike rate of 256.04. Photos of the scorecard from the match have gone viral on social media. Thanks to Abhishek’s double hundred, Amritsar posted 533 runs in their allotted 50 overs. Besides Abhishek, his opening partner Abhay Chaudhary scored 93 and Abhinav Sharma contributed a quick 51. 210 Runs Came From Boundaries Abhishek was in unstoppable form. Out of his 233 runs, 210 came from boundaries alone. Tarn Taran bowlers had no answers. He was eventually dismissed for 233, caught by Aniket Singh off the bowling of Ashish Lawrence. By then, the foundation for a massive total was already set. Amritsar Win by 220 Runs Chasing 534, Tarn Taran never looked in the contest. They were restricted to 313 runs in 50 overs, giving Amritsar a memorable 220-run victory. Abhishek impressed with the ball too, picking up 2 wickets with his left-arm spin. Abhishek will next be seen in action for India at the Asian Games, starting in the last week of September. India’s next T20 series is scheduled against West Indies in October.
