Yamaha is preparing to officially launch a new motorcycle in the Indian market today. The Japanese manufacturer is expected to expand its popular ‘R’ series lineup with the debut of the fully-faired Yamaha R2. Designed as a performance-oriented lightweight sports bike, the Yamaha R2 will bridge the gap between existing entry-level and mid-capacity offerings. Engine and Performance Engine: 200cc, single-cylinder engine. Power Output: Estimated 25 hp of maximum power and 19 Nm of peak torque. Transmission: 6-speed gearbox. Expected Features and Equipment Lighting: All-LED setup including headlight, indicators, and taillight. Suspension: Up-side down (USD) front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking & Safety: Disc brakes at both ends paired with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Cockpit & Ergonomics: Fully digital instrument console, clip-on handlebars, and a split-seat design. Target Rivals Upon release, the Yamaha R2 will enter the competitive 200cc performance segment, taking on established rivals such as the KTM RC 200, KTM Duke 200, and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.
