Tata Tigor Set to Be Replaced by All-New Tata Aeris: What to Expect

Tata Motors is preparing to overhaul its entry-level sedan portfolio, phasing out the longstanding Tigor nameplate in favor of a refreshed model dubbed the Tata Aeris. Serving as the compact sedan counterpart to the Tiago since its debut in 2017, the model is due for a comprehensive design and technology update to stay competitive in the sub-4-meter segment.

Key Exterior and Interior Upgrades

Patent leaks and early design details indicate that the Aeris will adopt Tata’s modern design philosophy while retaining the familiar notchback silhouette.

• Front Fascia: A sharper aesthetic featuring a slim gloss-black grille, re-profiled front bumper, redesigned lower air intakes, and sleeker LED headlamp units.
• Rear Profile: A revised boot lid accented by a modern connected LED taillamp light bar, complemented by a reprofiled rear bumper with vertical reflector inserts and fresh alloy wheel designs.
• Cabin & Tech: The interior is expected to receive a major equipment upgrade, headlined by a 10.25-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a semi-digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, and cruise control.
• Safety: In line with Tata’s safety push, six airbags are expected to come standard across all trim levels.

Powertrain and Mechanical Specifications

The Aeris will carry forward the proven 1.2-litre Revotron engine platform, retaining both standalone petrol and dual-cylinder iCNG configurations.

Following the standard combustion and CNG rollouts, an all-electric Aeris.ev derivative is also anticipated to replace the Tigor EV.

Pricing and Market Rivals

The Tata Aeris is projected to launch with an estimated ex-showroom price bracket of ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh. Upon arrival, it will directly contend with segment stalwarts including the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Honda Amaze.
