The terrorist attack in Pahalgam shocked the nation and drew global attention to India’s potential response. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has offered unprecedented insights into the strategy and critical decisions behind ‘Operation Sindoor.’ Doval emphasized that India will not hesitate to take necessary risks and strike decisively to safeguard its security.

Airport Strategy Session: PM Modi’s Immediate Response

NSA Doval revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s instructions following the Pahalgam attack were swift and decisive. Returning early from an official foreign trip, PM Modi convened a meeting directly at the airport. According to Doval, the Prime Minister immediately gathered facts, inquired about the perpetrators, and directed officials to track down and neutralize the terrorists.

Definitive Message Against Terror

Doval highlighted that Operation Sindoor extended beyond tactical destruction; it served as a clear statement of India’s strategic resolve and operational capability. He underscored that India’s patience and restraint must not be mistaken for weakness, reiterating the country’s willingness to act boldly regardless of potential fallout.

Clear Strategic Objectives

The core objective of Operation Sindoor was defined well before execution: to eliminate terrorist infrastructure connected to the Pahalgam tragedy. The initial attack on April 22 claimed 26 lives. In response, on May 7, 2025, India launched precision strikes against terror networks in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).

Role of Intelligence Capabilities

The success of the operation relied heavily on swift intelligence gathering. Indian agencies rapidly identified the key operatives and locations linked to the attack. Doval described the swift execution as a demonstration of India’s evolving technological precision and military readiness. These insights are featured in a two-part documentary detailing first-hand accounts from defense and security leadership.
