NOIDA: Commuters in Noida have received a major connectivity boost as the city’s first dedicated pedestrian skywalk opened to the public at 7:00 AM on Friday. The skywalk creates a seamless, elevated connection between the Delhi Metro Blue Line (Sector-52 Station) and the Noida Metro Aqua Line (Sector-51 Station). This infrastructure project eliminates the need for passengers to exit onto the road or navigate street-level traffic during interchanges, ensuring a faster, safer, and more convenient commute. Key Highlights & Features Direct Metro Interchange: Connects Sector-51 (Aqua Line) directly to Sector-52 (Blue Line) via an elevated walkway linked right in front of the station lifts. Travelator Facilities: Equipped with 10 travelators installed at 50-meter intervals to assist senior citizens, differently-abled passengers, and commuters carrying luggage. Dimensions & Cost: Built at an estimated cost of ₹33 crore, the skywalk spans a width of approximately 6 meters. Modern Amenities: Fitted with robust safety railings, advanced lighting systems, and round-the-clock security and sanitation personnel. Operational Details Following a comprehensive inspection of on-site preparations by Additional Chief Executive Officer Vandana Tripathi on Thursday, the facility was approved for public access on a trial basis. To prioritize commuter convenience ahead of the festive rush, authorities decided to operationalize the skywalk immediately without waiting for a formal inauguration ceremony. Construction of the project originally began in 2023. Senior officials—including Work Circle-3 Senior Manager RK Sharma, Water Division-3 Senior Manager PC Sen, and Assistant Deputy Director (Horticulture) Buddh Vilas—were present during the final operational review to oversee safety, crowd management, and cleanliness protocols.
