Team India got a big blow ahead of the series decider as pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah missed the Lord’s ODI against England due to a knee injury. With the 2027 ODI World Cup in mind, keeping Bumrah fully fit remains a top priority. The third and final ODI of the 3-match series between India and England was played on Sunday, 19 July at Lord’s in London. Before the toss, Indian captain Shubman Gill confirmed Bumrah was unavailable. “Boom is missing this game due to a knee issue,” Gill said. What BCCI Said The BCCI released an official update on the injury. The board said Bumrah picked up the knock while fielding during the 2nd ODI in Cardiff. He developed reactive swelling in his left knee, which made him unavailable for the Lord’s match. Bumrah’s Recent Workload Bumrah had taken a break of over a month after IPL 2026. Because of that, he missed the one-off Test and ODI series against Afghanistan, and was also rested for the T20 series against Ireland and England. He made his comeback on 14 July in the first ODI vs England — his first 50-over game since the 2023 ODI World Cup final. India’s Other Changes India made two more changes for the decider. Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar were also left out. Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna came into the playing XI.
