The All India Students’ Association (AISA) has alleged that Delhi Police took its national president, Neha Bora, into custody on Sunday using an unmarked private car without an official registration plate. The student group further claimed Bora was transported to an undisclosed location without any female police personnel inside the vehicle, terming the action a direct violation of standard detainment protocols.

The Delhi Police did not immediately issue an official statement addressing the allegations.

The incident unfolded during the third consecutive day of student-led demonstrations demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Activists assembled at the Andhra Bhawan roundabout on Ashoka Road and marched toward Jantar Mantar, chanting slogans and attempting to navigate heavy police cordons.

A brief scuffle occurred between demonstrators and law enforcement personnel when activists tried to scale security barriers. Bora was seen attempting to breach one of the barricades before being intercepted and detained by security personnel.

The Sunday protest marks continued friction between student organizations and authorities in the national capital:

  • Saturday Detentions: Over 150 demonstrators were rounded up by police while attempting to march toward the high-security protest zone.
  • Friday Demonstrations: More than 500 people—including Neha Bora, leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and activist Yogendra Yadav—were detained after authorities denied permission for the assembly.
  • Security Measures: Heavy barricades have been erected on key roads leading to Jantar Mantar, and authorities previously restricted commuter access to nearby Delhi Metro stations to manage crowd movement.
