The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official timetable and operational guidelines for Class 10 and Class 12 practical examinations, project assessments, and internal assessments for the 2026–27 academic year.

For institutions operating under the winter-bound academic calendar, the assessments will take place between November 9, 2026, and December 19, 2026. For regular CBSE-affiliated schools across India and internationally, practical and internal exams are slated to commence on January 1, 2027.

Mandatory Candidate Verification via LOC

The board has directed institutions to strictly reconcile student rosters against the finalised online List of Candidates (LOC) previously registered with CBSE. Under board regulations:

  • Only students formally enlisted on the verified LOC are permitted to take the practical or internal exams.
  • Class 10 internal assessments must be conducted as a single, one-time exercise, and marks must be uploaded to the portal within the prescribed window without room for re-evaluation sessions.

External Examiners and Session Management

To ensure standardisation and security, schools are required to coordinate with their regional CBSE offices for the deployment of designated external examiners and observers where mandated:

  • Batch Division: For laboratories or cohorts with over 30 candidates, schools must split students into two or three distinct daily shifts based on lab capacity and equipment availability.
  • Class 12 Answer Books: Completed answer booklets for Class 12 practicals must be packaged and dispatched directly to the corresponding regional offices per board protocols.

Geo-Tagged Documentation and Photo Submissions

To verify examination integrity, CBSE has mandated photographic documentation for every practical evaluation. Institutions will be provided a dedicated upload portal to submit group photographs for each batch during their practical session.

The board clarified that these immediate administrative directives apply strictly to winter-bound institutions, while regular-session schools will receive separate, tailored operational circulars ahead of their January evaluations.
