Bengaluru – The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken into custody Anurag Danayak, the Managing Director of Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited, in a graft case. According to CBI officials, Danayak was apprehended in Noida while accepting Rs 5 lakh as part of a larger bribe. The arrest followed a planned operation by the agency. Allegations in the case The CBI’s inquiry found that Danayak had allegedly asked for Rs 15 lakh from a company based in Bhopal. The company works as an authorized service partner for KAPL and supplies drugs to government hospitals and institutions in Madhya Pradesh. Officials stated the money was sought to: Clear the firm’s Service Agent Agreement with KAPL Approve a request to add more institutions under the firm for the current financial year, which was pending renewal Take a share of the commission the firm earned from medicine sales this year Searches and recovery Danayak was caught while collecting the installment of the demanded amount. Subsequently, the CBI carried out searches at his home and offices in Bengaluru, Noida, and Jabalpur. During the raids, investigators recovered: About Rs 75 lakh in cash Foreign currency worth Rs 4 lakh from properties in Noida and Bengaluru Gold jewellery and coins weighing 697 grams, estimated at Rs 86 lakh Documents related to the accused’s residential flat The agency said further investigation is underway.
