The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lodged a formal police complaint on Sunday evening against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Patna, Bihar, regarding controversial remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The complainant has demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress chief within a 24-hour window. Details of the Police Complaint The grievance was submitted by BJP worker Krishna Kumar Singh at Patna’s Kotwali police station. According to police authorities, the Kotwali precinct received the initial submission but confirmed that the matter falls under the territorial jurisdiction of the Gandhi Maidan police station. The complaint is being transferred there for formal examination and further procedural review. Context of the Controversy The incident occurred during an event organized in Patna to commemorate the 139th birth anniversary of Bihar’s first Chief Minister, Shri Krishna Singh. During his address, Kharge spoke about alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, stating that a Congress-led administration would hold those responsible accountable and ensure jail time for wrongdoers. In the course of his speech, an attendee from the crowd called out: “As long as there is no rebellion, Modi won’t go anywhere.” Responding directly from the dais, Kharge countered with the phrase: “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” (“Even Modi’s father would have to go”). BJP functionaries condemned the language as unparliamentary and personal, prompting Singh’s complaint demanding a formal retraction and public apology within 24 hours.
