Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the all-new AMG GT SUV, the first dedicated high-performance electric SUV built from the ground up on the brand’s proprietary AMG.EA architecture. Sharing its core design DNA with the low-slung AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, the SUV iteration introduces revised proportions, an illuminated front grille, and an updated rear fascia featuring signature six-pod turbine taillights.

Powertrain, Performance, and Battery Architecture

The lineup is headlined by three distinct electric variants, led by the flagship GT 63:

  • AMG GT 63 SUV: Equipped with a tri-motor setup (axial-flux units) delivering a continuous 711 bhp and a peak boost output of 1,153 bhp available for up to 63 seconds. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 2.7 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 270 km/h (168 mph) via the optional Driver’s Package. Carbon-ceramic brakes come standard.
  • AMG GT 55 SUV: Retains the tri-motor configuration but scales peak output to 805 bhp and 1,860 Nm (1,372 lb-ft) of torque, completing the 0–100 km/h sprint in 3.1 seconds.
  • AMG GT 53 SUV: The entry dual-motor variant produces 537 bhp and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, hitting 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds on standard steel brakes.

The model is built on an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture with direct-cooled NCMA battery chemistry:

(Note: The GT 53 is restricted to the 106 kWh pack, yielding up to 668 km of WLTP range).

Chassis Dynamics and Cabin Tech

Dynamic handling is managed by AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+, an electro-hydraulic active suspension system featuring three-stage air springs that replace traditional anti-roll bars to independently counteract pitch and roll. Additional chassis hardware includes:

  • Active rear-axle steering and targeted torque vectoring across the rear axle.
  • Fully variable all-wheel drive with an automatically decoupling front motor for highway efficiency.
  • Three dedicated console dials (“AMG Race Engineer”) for instant adjustments to throttle maps, traction control, and lateral dynamics.
  • Simulated multi-gear shifts, customizable acoustic sound profiles, and seven drive programs.

The interior layout features a triple-screen interface comprising a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster alongside two 14-inch displays for the central infotainment and front passenger. The operating system integrates multi-model AI assistants (ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini), complemented by a standard rear three-seat bench, a panoramic glass roof, and an optional Burmester 4D surround sound system.

European pricing for the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV lineup starts at €113,050.
