IMD Issues Yellow Alert for UP: Heavy Rain Expected in 7 Districts on July 13

The weather in Uttar Pradesh is expected to change over the next 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several districts across both eastern and western UP.

UP Weather for July 13

IMD said on Sunday that many parts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh are likely to see rain and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is also possible at a few places in the state’s northeastern districts.

In the capital Lucknow, Monday is expected to remain partly cloudy. The weather will largely stay clear during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 36°C and the minimum around 26°C. Areas that received rain, especially in eastern UP, have recorded a drop in temperature. Gorakhpur received 12.6 mm of rain on Sunday with a maximum temperature of 34.2°C. Lakhimpur Kheri recorded a maximum of 32°C.

Urai was the hottest city at 40°C

Meanwhile, Urai was the hottest city in the state with a maximum temperature of 40°C. Lucknow recorded a maximum of 35.5°C and a minimum of 27.8°C on Sunday.

According to IMD data, the southwest monsoon in Uttar Pradesh is currently less active than normal. Between June 1 and July 12, the state received 158.8 mm of rainfall against the normal of 190.9 mm — a deficit of 17%.Region-wise, eastern UP has received 35% less rainfall than normal so far, while western UP has received 16% more rain. However, the distribution in western UP has been uneven. Meerut recorded 194% more rain than normal and Muzaffarnagar 191% more. Sambhal, Etah, Hathras, and Firozabad also received much above-normal rainfall.

In contrast, districts like Pilibhit, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Shamli, and Mainpuri are still seeing much below-normal rainfall.

Heavy rain likely in these districts On July 13, Monday, heavy rain is likely in Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, and Balrampur, along with surrounding areas. The weather department has issued a Yellow Alert for these districts.
