Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Balyan was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside a gym in Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh.

The incident occurred in the Kotwali police station area as Balyan was leaving his routine workout session. Attackers arriving on two motorcycles opened indiscriminate fire—firing approximately 20 rounds—killing Balyan on the spot before fleeing.

Following the murder, a viral social media post claimed that Bholu Shahpuria, allegedly affiliated with Haryana’s Gogi gang, took responsibility for the killing. The post cited retaliation over a song Balyan previously produced about the gang’s late leader, Gogi. Police have not officially verified the authenticity of the post and are currently examining all leads.

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav condemned the killing, citing a breakdown of law and order in the state and calling for an investigation into potential political rivalries, as Balyan was reportedly preparing to contest upcoming local panchayat elections.
