In a major organizational restructuring announced by BJP President Nitin Nabin, former Union Minister Smriti Irani and RSS functionary Ram Madhav have returned to core leadership roles. Meanwhile, prominent figures Amit Malviya and Tejasvi Surya have been removed from their posts, widely seen as a consequence of the party’s handling of recent social-media-driven Gen Z protests.

The top organizational leadership remains intact, with B.L. Santosh continuing as General Secretary (Organisation) and Shiv Prakash as Joint General Secretary (Organisation).

Key Appointments and Comebacks

• Smriti Irani: Appointed as National General Secretary, marking the return of a woman leader to the post—a position unheld by women during J.P. Nadda’s presidency.
• Ram Madhav: Re-inducted into the executive structure as one of 13 National Vice Presidents following his exit in 2020.
• Piyush Goyal: Reappointed as National Treasurer, a position he previously held from 2014 to 2019.
• Biplab Kumar Deb: Former Tripura Chief Minister appointed as National General Secretary.
• New General Secretaries: The total count of National General Secretaries expanded from six to eight, introducing Bharti Pawar, Sanjay Bhatia, Satish Poonia, and Harish Dwivedi, alongside incumbents Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal.
• Defector Roles: Former AAP leader Sandeep Pathak and former Gujarat Congress figure Rohan Gupta have both been named National Secretaries.

Overhaul in Social Media and Youth Wings

Following the Jantar Mantar youth demonstrations, the party expanded its digital communication structure to improve outreach with younger demographics:

• Social Media Wing: IT Cell head Amit Malviya has been replaced by Deepak Mhaskey of Chhattisgarh, who will serve as Convener alongside four new Co-Conveners.
• Youth Wing: Hemang Joshi, a 35-year-old leader from Gujarat, replaces Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya as the head of the party’s youth wing.

Gender Representation and Regional Dynamics

Women’s representation saw notable gains at the mid-level organizational tier, increasing to 6 out of 13 National Secretaries compared to 2 out of 11 previously. Additionally, the inclusion of UP leader Harish Dwivedi as General Secretary aims to strengthen regional balance ahead of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh state elections.
