Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has confirmed that production for Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga, the latest installment in its hit crime anthology series, is moving forward despite previous legal challenges. The series had faced opposition from Sahara India Pariwar, the conglomerate founded by the late Subrata Roy. The company had previously warned of legal proceedings, expressing concerns that a dramatized depiction of events could interfere with ongoing legal disputes between Sahara and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Addressing media questions, SPNI Managing Director and CEO Gaurav Banerjee indicated that the regulatory concerns have been addressed, confirming that filming for the series is now officially underway. Background and Series Details Source Material: The show is based on journalist Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s book, Sahara: The Untold Story, which chronicles the growth of the business empire and the subsequent financial controversies surrounding its founder. Creative Team: Content studio Applause Entertainment and director Hansal Mehta—who spearheaded the previous two entries in the Scam franchise—have returned to produce the project in association with Sony’s Studio Next. Cast & Storyline: Starring Siddharth Bodke as Subrata Roy alongside Kritika Singh, Moon Banerjee, and Aditya Srivastava, the series focuses on the rise and eventual collapse of Roy’s massive business enterprise during the 2000s. Subrata Roy, who established Sahara in 1978 and expanded it into one of the country’s largest corporate entities, faced extensive regulatory scrutiny over financial practices before his arrest in 2014.
