New Delhi An Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi witnessed moments of panic on Tuesday after the aircraft encountered severe mid-air turbulence, leaving several passengers and crew members injured. Flight AI379 was carrying 137 passengers and 8 crew members when it hit the rough patch during cruise. According to the airline, 17 people, including 4 cabin crew, sustained injuries and the aircraft also suffered some damage. “It Was Really Scary” Once the plane landed at IGI Airport, visuals showed injured passengers being taken off on stretchers and shifted to ambulances for treatment.Viviana, a passenger from Italy whose mother was hurt, described the ordeal. “The aircraft was moving normally and then suddenly the turbulence started. I saw my sister thrown up from her seat. My mother hit her head. My phone fell. People behind me were injured. A man had blood on his face. We thought we would die. I was shaking and crying. It was horrible.” Airline Statement Air India said there were no serious injuries. A statement said passengers and crew with minor injuries were taken to the airport medical facility for check-ups. “As of 18:50 hrs on 4 August, five passengers have been discharged. The remaining individuals continue to receive treatment. Air India teams are at the hospitals and in touch with those affected to provide all support,” the airline said.
