Ghaziabad: The wait for nearly 10,000 beneficiaries hoping to get their own house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) is about to end. Following directions and a deadline from the central government, the GDA and private builders have been told to speed up work. Allotment for all housing units has already been done and the possession process is now being finalized.

Key Deadlines Announced

According to GDA Secretary Vivek Mishra, builders have been directed to complete all construction work by 30th August 2026 at any cost. The goal is to hand over possession of all flats to eligible beneficiaries by 30th September 2026.

The central government has also asked for a progress report on the entire scheme by 30th September. 

A total of 10,000 flats across 5 GDA projects and 11 builder projects have been reviewed.

Fire Safety and STP Work Underway

  • Fire safety systems are being installed in all housing units and tenders have already been issued.
  • Work on STP plants to tackle sewage issues is also progressing rapidly.

Status Of Housing Projects

  • GDA projects: 3,486 flats in areas like Dasna, Madhuban Bapudham, and Noor Nagar are ready
  • Builder projects: Out of 6,481 flats, all but 3 projects are nearly complete
  • In total, 16 schemes (5 by GDA + 11 by builders) will deliver around 10,000 flats.

3 Private Projects Still Incomplete

The authority has completed 3,486 units in Niwari, Dasna, Madhuban Bapudham, Pratap Vihar, and Noor Nagar.

In the review, GDA found that construction is still pending in 3 private builder projects.
