Dehradun — Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday participated in the state workshop of the ‘Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan’ held at a hotel on Tyagi Road, Dehradun, to mark the 650th birth anniversary year of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj. Paying tribute to Guru Ravidas, CM Dhami said his life and ideals remain relevant for society today. CM on Guru Ravidas Maharaj’s Message Dhami said Sant Ravidas represents India’s great tradition of equality, humanity, social justice, and harmony. Through his life and teachings, he raised awareness against discrimination, untouchability, and social hierarchies. “His clear message was that a person is known not by caste, but by his deeds, character, and thoughts,” the CM said. He highlighted Ravidas’s belief in simple devotion and pure conscience. The saint’s saying “Man changa to kathauti mein Ganga” still inspires people to purify themselves from within and build a harmonious society. Guru Ravidas envisioned a ‘Begumpura’ — a society free of sorrow, based on equality and prosperity, where everyone gets equal respect and no one goes hungry. Nation Progressing on Path of Antyodaya The CM said that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country is putting Guru Ravidas’s ideals of harmony and Antyodaya into practice. Government schemes are ensuring benefits reach every eligible person without discrimination. He cited Swachh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, and Jal Jeevan Mission as examples that have transformed the lives of the poor and needy. Uttarakhand Govt’s Priorities Dhami said the state government is also prioritizing Antyodaya under PM Modi’s guidance, focusing on: Connecting the last person in society to the mainstream of development Expanding basic facilities in hilly areas Transparent employment opportunities for youth Welfare of deprived and needy sections He added that Uniform Civil Code has been implemented in Uttarakhand to strengthen social equality and ensure equal laws for all citizens. Call to Take ‘Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan’ to Every Home The CM urged party workers to take the campaign to villages, neighborhoods, and homes. Through community meetings, dialogues, and awareness programs, the message of equality, love, brotherhood, and social unity given by Guru Ravidas should be spread widely. He said divisive mindsets must be countered with social unity and ‘Nation First’ spirit. Only when society rises above caste and discrimination will Ravidas’s dream of a harmonious and prosperous society be realized. Dhami appealed to everyone to adopt Guru Ravidas’s ideals and work with dedication for national unity and integrity. He said collective efforts can help fulfill the “no alternative resolve” of making Uttarakhand the best state in the country.
