Weather patterns across India have shifted significantly due to the combined impact of Cyclone Arnab from the Bay of Bengal and a fresh Western Disturbance over northern India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall, hailstorm, and thunderstorm warnings across 12 states, signaling an early onset of colder winter temperatures.

Delhi-NCR: Gusty Winds, Rain, and Orange Alert

Overcast conditions persist across the national capital region. The IMD has issued ‘Orange’ and ‘Red’ alerts for several areas, forecasting light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning through morning and early afternoon. Wind speeds are expected to reach 30 to 40 km/h. Temperatures are projected to range between a high of 27°C–29°C and a low of 16°C–18°C.

Uttar Pradesh: Heavy Downpours and Hail Risk

Eastern Uttar Pradesh faces isolated instances of heavy to very heavy precipitation. Western districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall, potential hailstorms, and wind gusts reaching 30 to 40 km/h.

Bihar: Widespread Disruption and Alerts

Cyclone Arnab continues to cause significant instability across Bihar. Northern districts are expected to experience severe weather conditions, with both Orange and Red alerts active due to the likelihood of localized heavy downpours and storms.

Madhya Pradesh: Orange Alert for Heavy Rain

The impact of Cyclone Arnab extends deep into central India. An Orange Alert has been sounded for Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli. In addition:

  • Moderate thunderstorms and rain: Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Shahdol, Anuppur, Amarkantak, Bansagar Dam, and Kanha.
  • Light showers and lightning: Jabalpur, Seoni, Katni, Umaria, Rewa, Satna, Chhatarpur, Panna, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Narsinghpur, and Chhindwara.

Rajasthan: Western Disturbance Lowers Temperatures

A Western Disturbance centered over Punjab and neighboring regions is driving cloud cover and sporadic rain across Rajasthan. Daytime temperatures are projected to plunge by 3°C to 5°C over the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain and gusty winds are predicted for Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, Kota, and Ajmer, with light precipitation possible in parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions.

Uttarakhand: Snowfall in High Altitudes, Rain in Plains

Higher-altitude shrines and ranges—including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Hemkund Sahib, and Munsiari—have recorded substantial snowfall, leading to sharp temperature drops. An Orange Alert has been issued across parts of Kumaon division, including Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar, warning of heavy rain and hail, while higher reaches continue to receive snow.
