High security has been deployed across Central Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti following a demonstration call by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at Jantar Mantar. AAP and other opposition parties have sought the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, accusing the Election Commission of widespread voter deletions under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

Delhi Police have declined permission for the demonstration and enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) across the New Delhi district to prohibit unlawful assemblies. Heavy barricading, anti-riot vehicles, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel have been stationed along key stretches between Jantar Mantar and Patel Chowk, with Jantar Mantar Road shut down for standard vehicular movement.

To manage crowd movements and maintain public order, entry and exit gates have been shut across 11 Delhi Metro stations until further instructions. Affected stations include Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Teerth, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, and New Delhi. Passenger interchanges remain functional at key junctions including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House, and New Delhi.

The Delhi Traffic Police also issued a comprehensive advisory warning motorists of route diversions and strict vehicular restrictions around Connaught Place, Patel Chowk, GPO, Tolstoy Marg, Jantar Mantar Road, and Parliament Street. Commuters have been advised to schedule extra travel time and use alternative routes.

Senior AAP figures had issued broad appeals to mobilize supporters. Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia stated that turning out in large numbers was vital to protect fundamental voting rights. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed over 13 crore names had been struck from voter registries nationwide through a centralized system, while former Chief Minister Atishi accused the central administration of undermining democratic safeguards through the commission.
