Nani Addresses ‘A’ Rating for ‘The Paradise,’ Citing Narrative-Driven Violence

Nani has shared his perspective on why his upcoming period drama, The Paradise, received an adults-only ‘A’ certification from film censors. While acknowledging that the project features heightened action scenes, the actor emphasized that the violence serves the emotional narrative rather than merely shocking the audience.

During a promotional media briefing in Mumbai, Nani revealed that the production team anticipated the restrictive rating during filming. Consequently, viewers under the age of 18 will be barred from theatrical screenings.

Addressing the rating, Nani noted that unlike productions relying on gratuitous brutality, the intense sequences in The Paradise are deeply intertwined with themes of love, personal conflict, and emotional weight. He stated that the crew was aware throughout principal photography that the script’s raw tone would inevitably warrant an ‘A’ certificate.

Set against the backdrop of 1980s Secunderabad, the narrative follows a protagonist named Jadal, portrayed by Nani, as he confronts systemic oppression and fights for the rights of a marginalized community.

The feature marks the second creative collaboration between Nani and director Srikanth Odela, following their 2023 box-office outing Dasara. Backed by SLV Cinemas, the ensemble cast also includes Mohan Babu, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni, and Raghav Juyal.
