The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) secured three out of four central panel seats in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, winning the posts of president, secretary, and joint secretary. The vice-presidential post went to independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen, who logged the highest individual vote tally across all contests.

Election Breakdown by Post

  • President: ABVP’s Yash Dabas won the presidential race with 24,576 votes, defeating the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) nominee Vijay Shankar Meena by a margin of 2,053 votes (22,523 votes). Left-backed candidate Anaya Raturi finished third with 5,377 votes, followed by ASAP’s Ashmit Kumar with 1,388 votes. Other candidates in the fray included Sameer Kumar (1,115 votes), Ejaj Mansuri (837 votes), and Samarth Beniwal (819 votes).
  • Vice President: Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen, an NSUI rebel, claimed victory with a decisive margin, securing 30,615 votes. ABVP’s Ishu Maurya followed in second place with 16,910 votes. NSUI’s Vir Chatrath managed 4,313 votes, while Left nominee Akshat Shikhar and candidate Aranya Singh Rathore picked up 2,383 and 2,274 votes, respectively.
  • Secretary: ABVP bagged the secretary’s seat as Riya Chhawdi polled 21,650 votes, beating NSUI’s Namrata Chaudhary, who received 14,869 votes. Left candidate Stanzin Deskyong came third with 8,734 votes, while ASAP’s Pankaj Kumar gathered 7,639 votes.
  • Joint Secretary: In the closest contest of the election, ABVP’s Lakshay Raj Singh emerged victorious with 16,615 votes. SCS candidate Vishesh Yadav placed second with 15,778 votes, narrowly edging out NSUI’s Gopal Choudhary at 15,206 votes. Left nominee B Parijat secured 5,837 votes.

The polling concluded voting across both the university’s central panel and individual college student bodies, leaving the ABVP with dominant control of the four-member DUSU central executive while an independent contender disrupted a clean sweep.
