Rebellion Hits Cockroach Janta Party as Dissident Faction Launches CJP-Democratic

The Abhijeet Dipke-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has witnessed its first major internal split following the launch of a breakaway platform, the Cockroach Janata Party-Democratic (CJP-D), by former volunteer Manish Brahmbhatt. Announcing the new faction in New Delhi on Thursday, Brahmbhatt accused the leadership of sidelining grassroots protesters and converting the youth outfit into an extension of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Neither Dipke nor representatives of the CJP had officially responded to the allegations at the time of publication.

Allegations of Political Alignment Speaking to news agency ANI, Brahmbhatt claimed that the CJP’s core leadership comprises hand-picked individuals serving AAP’s political interests rather than addressing core student and public issues.

• Political Proximity: Brahmbhatt alleged that eight members appointed to the CJP leadership team possess direct links to AAP, claiming the outfit’s sole focus has narrowed to opposing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to support specific opposition parties.
• Lack of Pan-India Representation: The dissident leader asserted that key contributors from the Jantar Mantar protests and volunteers from multiple states were excluded from the newly announced national working committee, which named Dipke as its national convenor.

Background of Internal Tensions Tensions within the organization surfaced earlier in August when Brahmbhatt and his associate, Rahul Pandya, traveled from Gujarat to protest outside Dipke’s residence in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar during an internal strategy meeting. The two demonstrators, alleging marginalization of key frontline volunteers, were hospitalized following health complications during the sit-in.

The CJP was initially established by Dipke on May 16 as a satirical digital response to controversial remarks attributed to the judiciary. It gradually transitioned into an active youth platform focusing on youth unemployment, exam paper leaks, and educational reform.

While Dipke previously acknowledged past involvement with the AAP, he has consistently maintained that he holds no ongoing organizational ties to the party. Although senior AAP leaders participated in CJP demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, there has been no independent confirmation to substantiate claims that the CJP operates under external political directives.
