Samsung’s latest software update, One UI 9—which launched alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup—may be an incremental upgrade over One UI 8.5, but it brings several practical enhancements. Among these is a new feature that gives users more utility out of their Motion Photos. Animate Your Lock and Home Screens Smartphones and tablets updated to One UI 9.0 can now apply Motion Photos directly as dynamic wallpapers. Users can set any captured Motion Photo as the background for their home screen, lock screen, or both directly from the default Gallery app. Live Preview: When choosing a Motion Photo for your wallpaper, the system displays a real-time preview of the movement. Easy Toggle: A dedicated Motion Photo button allows users to quickly enable or disable the animation effect before applying it. Supported Devices and Availability The Motion Photo wallpaper capability is currently active on: Galaxy Z Flip 8 Galaxy Z Fold 8 Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra While the feature is not yet active on earlier preview builds—such as One UI 9.0 Beta 5 on the Galaxy S26 Ultra—it is expected to roll out to more devices as the stable update reaches broader availability.
